More...on Expanding Your Child's Language

Just a few more tips to help expand your child's language skills from
Esther May, MA, CCC-SLP, a certified speech and language pathologist:
** READ.
** Read out loud!
** Read when you're pregnant.
** Read to the baby.
** Read books with a plot - with a beginning, middle and an end.
** Read books that are slightly above your child's intelligence level.

Reading books with a plot teaches children to sequence. This is important for their entire educational career. It helps to prepare them to have good narrative skills. Alot of education is relating what you know.
In addition, it teaches them that indeed there is a beginning, a middle and an end - a lesson for life.
